The Quality Lab Manager will provide management to the Lab Team to ensure completion of testing and reporting in the most effective manner. You will act on behalf of the team to ensure that our laboratories and associated assets are fit for purpose and well maintained, our procedures and activities are compliant with regulations and our people are provided with the appropriate guidance and support to operate safely and securely to create long-term strategic value for Abraham Moon.

Key Responsibilities
Provide management to the lab team to ensure completion of testing and reporting in the most effective manner.
Manage the laboratory equipment to deliver the appropriate capability for testing of fabric and yarn.
Ensure all equipment is maintained and calibrated within specified timescales by approved labs and records maintained.
To manage yarn and fabric testing activities whilst co-ordinating internal and external testing requirements for the laboratory, ensuring customer testing requirements are completed in a timely fashion, reports completed, and results communicated.
Ensure testing deadlines are monitored and actions taken to ensure they are met.
Assist the Dyehouse lab team and the yarn purchasing manager with yarn approvals.
Manage the relationship and cost of external testing services to ensure the company achieves the best service for the best cost.
Manage spare parts and chemical usage, ordering test materials to ensure adequate stock levels are maintained and ensuring the use of best available materials are purchased for the best price and terms.
Ensure inter-lab testing and comparisons are completed to ensure that the results from the laboratory testing are valid, and tests are being performed to standard.
To monitor spend across labour and materials and take actions which improve cost levels.
Review of customer testing requirements and integration into the lab.
Support the Head of Quality in consulting with suppliers, customers and third parties on matters of quality.
Report and highlight in a timely fashion back to the head of quality, all analysis, feedback and discussion of test results against both internal expected standards and customer standards.
Drive continuous improvement in Quality Control Management in the laboratories to meet the business and customer’s objectives.
Support the Operations Director and Head of Quality with tasks, such as maximising the analytical techniques that are UKAS accredited as part of a market protection strategy.
Support the Head of Quality with recruitment of staff into the Lab team.
Supporting Head of Quality and the senior team with customer and client relations, supporting at key meetings and adapting to the level and knowledge level as requested.
Work with the Technical Product Manager, Design Team and Head of Quality on cloth improvement and performance discussions.
Responsible for maintaining customer accreditations.
Organise and maintain regular due diligence testing for Apparel and Furnishings.
Work with the Technical Product Manager to maintain records of core quality standards for customer requests.
Work with the Technical Product Manager to complete customer technical specifications related to cloth performance and expected standards.
To create, brief and monitor Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all tasks which will ensure tasks are undertaken in a safe, quality-focused, and consistent manner.
Ensure the health, safety, and welfare for your team through the completion of risk assessments, implementation of actions and monitoring of compliance.
Monitoring and ensuring that all work is in keeping with compliance, legal and Health and Safety requirements.
Work to the highest standards of safety and quality by ensuring that appropriate COSHHs, risk assessments and SOPs are understood and followed.
Participation during customer & regulatory audits.
Plan training reviews to ensure the quality team has the requisite skills & knowledge to perform their duties.
Monitor, plan and implement improvements in housekeeping and 5s.
Complete briefings and communication sessions with teams as required by Head of Quality.
Key Skills and Qualities
A degree/formal qualification in textiles
Excellent knowledge of fabric and fabric finishing
Work experience in a similar/related role
Ability to manage and lead diverse teams of people
Exceptional organisational and communication skills
Ability to analyse, interpret and report data
Ability to plan and coordinate
Proactive team player with strong customer service and problem-solving skills
