Salary: $85,000 – $120,000

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Project Accountant to join our team in Manhattan, New York. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in managing the financial aspects of construction projects. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional to contribute to high-profile construction projects while ensuring compliance and financial accuracy.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting & Analysis:

• Prepare and present regular financial reports to stakeholders, providing clear insights into the project’s financial status.
• Analyse financial statements to identify potential issues and develop strategies to address them.
• Allocate and control project budgets, ensuring alignment with financial goals and project timelines.
• Track and manage project costs, identifying areas for potential savings.

Budgeting & Forecasting:

• Develop comprehensive financial forecasts using economic data.
• Monitor and adjust budgets as necessary to ensure projects remain on track.

Subcontractor Management & Compliance:

• Ensure all construction projects adhere to relevant laws, regulations, and contractual terms.
• Enforce contract terms and oversee subcontractor accounting, including reviewing pay requests and schedules of value.
• Review and manage insurance and bond requirements to prevent long-term efficiency issues.

Invoicing & Accounts Receivable:

• Manage the invoice process, ensuring timely and accurate billing.
• Oversee accounts receivable, including document releases, monthly billing, and payment status follow-ups.

Certified Payroll:

• Ensure compliance with payroll requirements, reviewing forms and payroll information.
• Collaborate with monitoring agencies to maintain payroll accuracy.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
• 3+ years of experience in construction accounting, with a strong understanding of project accounting principles.
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Exceptional analytical, organisational, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
