Job Title: Estimator – Utility & Underground Construction

Salary: Up to $180,000

Company Overview:

A leading general contractor specializing in utility and underground construction is seeking an experienced Estimator. With a focus on concrete work, sidewalk paving, and utility projects, this role offers the opportunity to contribute to major infrastructure developments across New York City.

Position Overview:

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of estimating experience in commercial construction, with a strong background in utility and underground work. Expertise in concrete, sidewalk paving, and civil infrastructure is highly preferred. Proficiency with HeavyBid – HCSS estimating software is required. This position requires excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prepare accurate cost estimates for complex projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for utility, underground, concrete, and sidewalk paving projects.
• Analyze drawings, specifications, and project documents to determine scope and cost implications.
• Work closely with subcontractors, suppliers, and project teams to gather accurate pricing and ensure competitive bids.
• Identify risk factors, cost-saving opportunities, and alternative construction methods to improve project efficiency.
• Utilize HeavyBid – HCSS to develop accurate estimates and streamline the bidding process.
• Ensure estimates align with industry standards, regulations, and project requirements.
• Maintain a database of historical costs and market trends to support accurate pricing.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of estimating experience in commercial construction, with a focus on utility, underground, and civil projects.
• Strong knowledge of concrete, sidewalk paving, and excavation work.
• Proficiency in HeavyBid – HCSS is required.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills to collaborate with vendors and subcontractors.
• Ability to manage multiple estimates simultaneously in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Experience:

• Experience working on large-scale infrastructure projects across NYC.
• Background in municipal or DOT projects related to utilities and underground work.
