Overview

We are looking to employ a motivated and enthusiastic Electrical Design Engineer to join our busy Technical Department. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, capable of developing new ideas from concept through into production. The ideal candidate must have the ability to work both on their own and as part of a multi-disciplined R&D team.

The typical workload for the first 12 months will be to familiarize yourself with LTE products by updating the existing schematics, working through ECNs, and changing obsolete parts while working with other engineers and the shopfloor staff. After this initial period, you will be redesigning LTE’s products based on what you have learnt and applying new electrical design principles.

Key Responsibilities

Designing products from concept through to production release to a given specification, agreed timescales and to LTE’s Quality Management System (QMS)

Work within a multi-disciplined development team environment and use your own initiative to achieve the project requirements

Electrical schematic layout designs

Generate detailed technical documentation (Drawings, BOMs, manuals, etc.)

Generate comprehensive component specifications and designs

Reduce product costs by re-designing existing products

Assist production/service engineers when requested

Collaborate fully with production engineering on new product launch

Design testing criteria

Produce ECN’s for design updates or changes

Necessary Requirements

Proven previous electrical design experience (5+ years) in a similar role

Fully competent to read and interpret electrical drawings/schematics and produce electrical design calculations

The ability and willingness to work ‘hands on’ to assist fault finding on electrical systems

Working industry knowledge of AutoCAD LT and/or Draftsight with the ability to create/edit electrical schematics

Understanding & knowledge of PLC systems

Minimum HNC qualification in an Electrical Engineering discipline

Excellent communication and problem-solving skills while working with other LTE departments

Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook

Desired Knowledge

Working industry knowledge of Zuken E3.series Electrical Design Software

Working to codes & standards like BS7671, EN61010, Electrical Safety Standards, EMC Directive, ISO 9001 etc
