Devlopment Chemist

Purpose of Role:

To develop formulations and products within selected sectors and to provide technical support to key customers and other departments internally.

Primary Role & Responsibilities:

• Actively contribute to R S Clare vision to be the global, go to solutions provider for asset protection through innovation to solve critical problems for customers
• Identify formulations to improve performance, reduce cost and/or provide competitive advantage for R S Clare in the marketplace
• Conduct product testing to critically evaluate candidate formulations, using both internal equipment and through third party partners
• Interpret test results and data to progress projects efficiently and effectively
• Develop new test methods to support product development against specific applications
• Resolve technical issues using structured approaches to problem solving and innovative thinking
• Plan work and manage time to deliver projects on-time to satisfy defined requirements
• Accurately record information and write technical reports to support successful manufacture and sales of new products
• Manage individual projects through to fruition including supervision of plant trials and ongoing manufacturing support as necessary
• Drive continuous improvement using appropriate business tools and techniques
• Maintain a solid understanding of chemical regulatory requirements, plus laboratory and manufacturing safety and environmental standards.
• Conduct all work using best practice, maintaining the highest housekeeping standards and ensuring compliance with all relevant Quality Assurance, Health & Safety and Regulatory standards
• Support Commercial colleagues in discussions and relationships with customers, including response to requests for Technical Support
• Represent R S Clare at Technical and other seminars, including delivery of presentations, papers, etc.

Person Specification:

Education & Qualifications:

• BSc Chemistry or Science
• Postgraduate Qualifications are Desirable
• Professional Membership is Desirable
